By understanding the roles and necessary skills that tech companies are looking for, students can start to position themselves for the career opportunities of the future. As such, The Student Career Compass is proud to host a tech specific event supported by some of the most well-known tech organisations globally: BT Group, Dell, Microsoft, Google, the software technology company, Aveva as well as School of Coding and AI, who will all provide students with detailed insights into:
- What it is like to work for these organisations and their values
- What career opportunities and trajectories look like
- The journey of recent graduates and apprentices
- What direct entry routes are available
- What they look for in a candidate and how to make a strong application
And not to be missed, we are also going to showcase a number of live mock recruitment interviews on stage, so students can see first-hand the do's and dont's of a good interview.
Those attending in person will benefit additionally from the market stalls that each of these organisations, plus others, will be hosting and be able to have more personal one-to-one conversations with their teams.
Our CV Clinic has proven to be very popular over the last few years and students will again be able to bring their CV in and have it assessed and critiqued by industry experts.
Other areas of support also available at the event for those who are able to attend in person include representatives from UCAS who are happy to address any questions or concerns younger students may have about applying to universities; TalentLink, who support students by connecting them to employers in tackling skills deficits across technology, engineering and cyber security; and Optimum Choice Wellbeing will be there to offer guidance around managing students’ overall wellbeing, including stress and anxiety.
